The Beginning of our Journey

Hi Everyone,

Because so many of our friends and family are interested in our new adventure we set up this blog so you can track our progress while in Kazakhstan.

This process started back in September 2005 when Larry saw a picture of a little girl named Diana on a website. She was 2 years old and just as cute as can be. After some research Larry found out that she had two biological siblings, one brother (age 7)and one sister (age 5). After a few months of convincing me (DeAnn) that this was something we had to do, we started the process at Thanksgiving time.

I told Larry that if this drug out that I would change my mind. This is a very emotional thing for me and that we had to go in March or I was done. We were assured that that would be no problem and we had hopes that we would have them home for Easter. I even bought them Easter dresses at Christmas time.

But here it is the end of June and we still have not left. Have I given up? Almost, I want to, at times wish we hadn't started this. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done, emotionally speaking. But we haven't given up! I know, and Larry's knows, this is something we have to do. It will work, and sacrifice always brings forth the blessings of heaven.

We are very close and hope to leave within a few weeks. After finally getting our LOI (Letter of Invitation), we found out our tour guide/translator is on vacation. So we will now wait for her. Hopefully we will hear something this week.

We are so excited to add to our family. Our boys, Caleb and Nathanael, are excited as well. In the past few days we have been buying toys, clothes, toothbrushes, etc... to get ready for our trip. This will be a once in a lifetime experience. I pray all goes well.
